Reserva Familiar 30 Anys Brut Nature
A mild and humid vintage. Following the wet and cold 1995 vintage, the new cycle began with a very rainy autumn and winter, with 374mm of rainfall (average 230mm). Temperatures during this period were mild (11.3°C vs. an average of 10.5°C). Budbreak was good. Spring remained wet (213mm vs. an average of 136mm), and cool temperatures (16.4°C vs. an average of 17.4°C) helped keep downy mildew pressure under control. The cycle progressed slowly. A warm summer with rainfall at the start of August. Summer was drier than usual (112mm vs. 170mm) and cool (21.8°C vs. 23.3°C). 100% parcels from the Raventós i Blanc estate. Clos del Serral, planted in 1950 and Creueta del Coll, planted in 1973. Hand-harvested, gently pressed in a pneumatic press, settling, first alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature, blending, bottled according to the traditional method for sparkling wine production. Ageing 29 years on lees in rima position. Blend crafted by Manuel Raventós Negra in 1996, whose first vintage dates back to 1986. Bottles from the family reserve, kept for 30 years in the cellar and now released as an extremely limited edition, freshly disgorged. An expression of the passage of time and the identity of the estate, connecting with its origins: in 1872, the first bottles of sparkling wine made by the traditional method in Spain were produced here, exclusively from estate-grown grapes.
