Can Sumoi Sumoll
The origin of this wine is closely linked to the history and mission of Can Sumoi; our project to recover an abandoned estate in the Montmell mountains, located at an altitude of 600 m and with 400 ha of which only 20 ha are suitable for agriculture. A wild environment only 15 km from the Mediterranean, which gives us the ideal conditions to produce wines with minimal intervention. Thanks to the Mediterranean, our wines enjoy a slower maturation, have a better acidity preservation, and are complex, with texture, tension and elegance. Sumoll 2021 is our interpretation of the Plana dels Horts vineyard in the town of Masllorenç, with only 0.91 ha of Sumoll from 1975. A wine of which we have only produced 628 bottles of 75 cl. A very limited production; with the aim of being able to place the Sumoll and our terroir on the world wine map. The plot “La Plana dels Horts” located in Masllorenç, which has been the area of resistance of the Sumoll, being able to find old vineyards of this variety. Located between the Serra del Montmell and Serra de Bonastre, the area has a Mediterranean-continental climate with warm and dry summers that allow the fruit to have a long ripening without botrytis problems. A unique microplot of 0.91ha planted in 1975 with goblet training.
