La Peca Coll del Guix Sumoll
La Peça - Coll del Guix is a joint project of l’Enclòs de Peralba and Pardas. While searching for Sumoll vineyards capable of producing balanced musts with aging potential, we found this one, located about 25 kilometers from Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. Beyond crafting a fine age-worthy red wine, this project also aims to celebrate collaboration between wineries, a tradition seen in the world’s most respected wine regions. Vineyard: The plots of La Peça and Coll del Guix are located in Santa Margarida de Montbui, in the area we like to call the Greater Penedès. They cover a total of 1.37 hectares (1.08 ha and 0.29 ha), at an altitude of 485 meters above sea level, with a 12% slope, southeast exposure, and an average annual rainfall of 650 mm. Winemaking: The grapes are harvested by hand into 25 kg boxes. They are whole-cluster fermented and gently foottrodden. Fermentation happens spontaneous with no temperature control and daily cap soaking. The wine is pressed before fermentation ends. It then ages in used 500-liter barrels, following a short settling period in stainless steel tanks. Finally, it rests for six months in bottle before release. The wine: A total of 939 bottles were produced from the 2022 vintage.
