Palpite Branco Reserva
There's only a white 2024 Palpite Reserva Branco, but the word Reserva is only on the back label. It was produced mostly with the first pressings of 52% Arinto—which comes from the younger vines planted at the winery and add freshness—and 48% old field blends (Alicante Branco, Trincadeira das Pratas, Roupeiro, Rabo de Ovelha). It fermented and matured in barrels, 15% to 20% new, with the lees for 12 to 15 months. It has a golden color and a spicy nose. It was a rainy year (600 liters) with a cooler and fresh climate—almost close to the climate from the Dão. The wine has contained ripeness, 12.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.14 and 6.7 grams of acidity, very good freshness even after full malolactic—all of the whites go through full malolactic. This is one of their classical whites. The wine has a Burgundian profile, with finesse, spiciness and a serious, chalky mouthfeel. 8,400 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2025. I sampled some old vintages that showed some evolution, so I'd drink them sooner rather than later.
