Artadi Izar-Leku Sparkling
The 2022 Izar-Leku was not only produced with the white grape Hondarrabi Zuri but also contains 4% red Hondarrabi Beltza, and for the first time, the back label shows the disgorgement date, December 2025, which means it matured in bottle with lees for 30 months. It is still quite young, but it's quite harmonious, balanced and elegant, with more nuance and smaller bubbles than the 2021 I tasted next to it. The year was very rainy, marking it as one of the wettest years of the decade, with annual precipitation exceeding 1,500 liters. Although it was generally cooler than the previous year, the vintage still featured record-breaking summer heat waves. The wine comes in at 12.5% alcohol, with a pH of 3.1 and a dry mouthfeel (it's extra brut). 25,000 bottles produced.
