Cava Mas Via Gran Reserva Brut 2009

Unanstrengend intensiv.

Parker über: Cava Mas Via Gran Reserva Brut

The 2009 Mas Via Extra Brut Gran Reserva, disgorged in April 2025, is phenomenal, complex, expressive, elegant and nuanced, with aromas of baked brioche, yeasts, crusty bread and aromatic herbs and flowers. This has been produced since the 1950s and is an exception, as it has 2.7 grams of dósage (Extra Brut, the majority of wines are Brut Nature, bone dry) to give it more weight. Produced with the trinity of varieties—Xarel.lo, Macabeo and Parellada—it was fermented and kept in barrel for one year and then put in bottle to referment. It comes in at 12% alcohol, with a pH of 3.02, 5.9 grams of acidity and 2.7 grams of residual sugar (a little lower) that make it neatly balanced. It's velvety, sleek and polished, with very fine bubbles and some tertiary sensations. It was kept in bottle with the lees under cork for 168 months or 14 years! 4,208 bottles produced. It was disgorged in April 2025.

Tim Atkin über: Cava Mas Via Gran Reserva Brut

This vintage is perfectly on song, setting a benchmark for the long-aged Cava style which few others reach. It’s the combination of formidable complexity and oxidative savour without a sense of drying-out, unbalanced volatility or tiredness that marks this wine out – dried and caramelised citrus fruits, Agen prune, dried apple and toasted walnut notes meet an engaging spicy build of caraway, cumin and fenugreek, shifting and playing in the glass. Tapered, silky, detailed and gorgeous on the palate, it’s one of the greatest from Mestres and a star in the appellation.

Mestres

Man produziert hier Wein seit 1607.
