Lobenberg: Nur 6 Barriques, Durchschnittsalter der Reben 70-80 Jahre. Berauschende, hochintensive Nase nach dunklen Kirschen und schwarzer Johannisbeere, dunklen Waldbeeren, Brombeere, Johannisbrot und schwarzer Olive, Wacholder und Holunder. Sehr rassig, sehr viel kubanische Tabake, getoastetes Holz, verbranntes Fleisch, Teer. Drückend, fast wuchtig. Der Mund setzt sich nahtlos fort. Auch hier diese hohe Intensität. Allen Platz einnehmend. Tolle Säure. Auch externe Aromen wie Teer, Schokolade, extrem lang gezogener Assamtee, Espresso und Tabak. Sehr gut eingebundenes, aber auch sehr deutliches Holz. Ein großer Wein und der vielleicht einzige Blockbuster von Olivier. 99/100

There is a very mild touch of rusticity to the powerful, impeccably well-balanced and gorgeously persistent finish. This is textbook Mazis and well worth considering. (92-95)/2023+

-- Internet: -- IWC: Bright, deep ruby-red. Very reduced nose clears somewhat with air to reveal dark aromas of black fruits, licorice and violet. At once vibrant and sweet in the mouth, with a lightly gamey character, but much less expressive today than the Bonnes-Mares. Most impressive today on the very long if youthfully aggressive finish, which features complex, building tannins and a distinctive smoky minerality. This may well need a decade in bottle to absorb its (oak-driven) tannins. 92-95/100
