Grain Cinq
The 2024 Grain Cinq blends Petite Arvine, Marsanne and Paiën (a.k.a. Savagnin Blanc or Heida) with Pinot Blanc and Sylvaner, all varieties co-planted in Fully (Les Claives and Planche Billon) and vinified together in vats and concrete eggs for 12 months. The nose is clear, even detailed, deep, intense and refreshingly mineral, reminiscent of crushed stones (granite), salt, herbs, white flowers and bright and yellow fruits. Full-bodied, rich and round on the palate, this is an apparently off-dry but in fact very dry white with lots of textural generosity and fine, lemony bitterness on the long, very intense and warm yet still elegant and balanced finish. This is an approachable, highly aromatic, and intensely fruity Fully white with a complex, lingering yet elegant structure and excellent balance. The finish is slightly salty and, despite its warmth, also invigorating. Stylistically, to me, this is more of a German-speaking Valaisan than a French-speaking one. 14.6% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in May 2026.
