Der Irpinia Aglianico Serpico kommt von über 150 Jahre alten wurzelechten Rebstöcken. Er reift sowohl in neuer als auch in gebrauchter Eiche. 18 Monate Fassausbau werden hier schon in der Nase deutlich. In der Nase haben wir betörende dunkle Pflaume und Brombeere, Blaubeere, Schwarze Johannisbeere, drumherum Lorbeer. Dazu kommen feine Süßholz-, Teer- und Tabak-Noten. Das Mundgefühl ist samtig und die reife, beinahe süße Frucht hat eine außerordentliche Struktur und Frische als eleganten Gegenspieler. Nach knapp 10 Jahren kommt er in das Alter, wo man ihn öffnen darf. Dann sind die Aromen herrlich entwickelt und der Wein ist in seinem besten Trinkfenster angekommen. Dies allerdings bleibt noch viele Jahre bis Jahrzehnte geöffnet.

In the frosted black bottle, the Feudi di San Gregorio 2018 Irpinia Aglianico Serpico is richly concentrated and texturally bold. Ripe fruit flavors, dark marmalade and sweet spice play prominent roles. This expression is quite impactful, so make your food-pairing choices accordingly. There is a spot of freshness and varietal bitterness that build up the wine's mouthfeel in terms of structure and persistence. The oak dosing is evident but well balanced. Aglianico vines are ancient, ages 150 to 180 years old, on sandy soils—this accounts for the wine's richness. Production is 13,800 bottles.,,
