Der Zaubertrick des Magiers bedeutet diese Redewendung 'Manga del Brujo'. Weiße Grenache und Macabeo (Viura) aus Hochlagen von über 800 Metern zusammen als Wholebunch gepresst, im 500 Liter Stockinger vergoren und auf der Vollhefe ausgebaut. Rauchige Nase nach Zitronengras, reifer Apfel, Zitronengras, Feuerstein und weißem Pfirsich. Provencalische Kräuter dazu. Kühler Kalkstein im Mund mit weißer Birne, weißem Pfirsich und Zitronenzesten. Weiße Netzmelone, guter, leicht reduktiver Feuerstein-Grip und eine leichte, mundwässernde Bitterkeit. Ein intensiver, geschmacksreicher großer kleiner Wein mit viel Ausdruck.

Der vom Cool-Climate geprägte Jahrgang 2024 gilt in Spanien bei den Top-Winzern als grandioser Erfolg. Deutlich schlanker und kühler als 2023, bestechen die Weine dank extrem zeitiger Lese mit vibrierender Rasse, brillanter Frische und einer aufregenden, glasklaren Struktur auf dem Niveau der Legendenjahre.

Parker über: Manga del Brujo Blanco

Demand for white is growing, and the 2024 Manga del Brujo Blanco is a cuvée of 20,000 bottles (a big growth from the first 6,500 bottles in 2022!). It was produced with 50% Macabeo from old vines and 50% Garnacha Blanca. The full clusters were pressed, the juice let to settle, and then it fermented in used 500-liter Stockinger barrels. It has a bright yellow color and a spicy, leesy, smoky, somewhat Burgundian nose complemented with notes of Mediterranean herbs and a very tasty, chalky and slightly saline palate. It comes in with 12.9% alcohol, a pH of 3.21 and 5.1 grams of acidity. It was bottled in June 2025.

Aromas of creamy lemons with an herbal touch. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with pleasant bitterness complemented by saline and savory notes. Tasty and full of character. Great value. A blend of 50% macabeo and 50% garnacha blanca. Drink or hold.

The growing season in 2024 was very balanced with much needed Winter and Spring rains after a two year drought. Spring and Summer did not bring the high temperatures of the previous years and so the grapes had excellent balance and poise. Our harvest started on the 16th of September and we had all our vineyards picked by the first week of October, starting from 650 metres above sea level moving up to 1000m. The Macabeo comes from our Cerro Merino vineyard at 920 metres elevation planted in 1969 on a glacis soil. The Garnacha Blanca from a gravel soil at 750 metres. Grapes were hand picked into 20kg cases and stored overnight in a cool room before processing. Varieties were mixed in the press. We follow Burgundian methods in the cellar: grapes are loaded whole bunch to the press, then we use a long slow press cycle with no sulphur and enzymes. Must is cold settled over night then racked to used 500l Stockinger and François Frère barrels with almost zero toast. Spontaneous fermentation proceeds at ambient cellar temperature (18 to 20C) for around 2 weeks until dry. The wine was then kept on full fermentation lees for a further month before racking back to the same barrels. This intensely aromatic wine displays ripe stone fruits of peach and apricot, candied citrus peel and wild mountain flowers. Notes of white peach and quince follow in the mouth with seamlessly integrated oak giving way to a long mineral, saline finish.
