Sandböden auf Kalkstein auf fast 1000 Metern gewachsen. Buschwein, uralt, über 150 Jahre alt und wurzelecht. 2 kleine Plots. Extremes Klima zwischen kochender Hitze und frostig-kalten Nächtren. Handlese, überwiegend entrappte kleinbeerige Tinto Fino. Spontan vergoren im Holz und etwas im Stahl, Audsbau fast 2 Jahre in französischer Eiche mit nur 15% Neuholzanteil. Unfiltriert und ungeschönt gefüllt. Dunkles Kirschrot mit schwarzen Reflexen. Immense Duftigkeit mit hoher Eleganz, trotz der hohen Tag-Nacht-Untrerschiede keine Marmelade sondern totaler Scgliff. Schwarze Kirsche, Cassis, Brombeere, Holunder. Veilchen und Vergissmeinicht, Flieder. Kreide und weißer Pfeffer. Hohe Mineralität und Salz schon in der Nase. Was für eine Schönheit! Was für eine geniale Balance und Harmonie von den sandigen Böden. Samt und Seide im intensivern, aber unanstrengendem Mund, ein genial saftiger Fluss, cremig, charmant, hedonistisch lecker. Keine rauhen Kanten, einfach nur voller Charme und überwältigend in seiner Seidigkeit.

Der Ausnahme-Jahrgang 2022 gilt in Spanien als historischer Meilenstein. Trotz Rekordhitze bestechen die Weine dank kühler Sommernächte mit verblüffend tiefen pH-Werten, spektakulärer Säurefrische und seidigen Tanninen – eine grandiose, perfekt balancierte Dichte auf Augenhöhe mit dem großen Bordeaux-Jahrgang.

Galloni über: Dos Fincas Tempranillo

The 2022 Dos Fincas blends fruit from the estate’s two finest sandy-soil sites in Atauta, Ribera del Duero. In a winery best known for its single-parcel wines, this blend revives Ribera’s historic tradition of assembling sites to build complexity rather than isolate origin. After blending, the wine was aged for up to 22 months in barrel. Aromatically bright, it shows fresh plum, blackberry and wild herbs, with balsamic notes that lift the fruit. Equally expressive on the palate, with grippy tannins, chalky texture, energy and power, it moves with a lightly juicy, polished feel. Sexy and layered, this is a blend that proves complexity in Ribera can still come from the dialogue between vineyards.

The second vintage of a new blend from their two best terroirs, both on sandy soils, the 2022 Dos Fincas comes from ungrafted vines whose grapes were destemmed but not crushed and fermented in 5,000-liter oak vats, and the wine aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, 15% of them new. From those barrels, they selected the best, and after being blended, that selection continued to complete an élevage of 18 months in barrels. The aromatics are similar to those from the other 2022s, but the difference is the finesse in the palate, the silkiness of the texture and the elegance of the tannins. It feels fresher and with better balance and elegance. It has 14.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.68 and 4.95 grams of acidity. 4,524 numbered bottled were filled in August 2024.

Dos Fincas is something of a moveable feast, as it's sourced from what the Dominio de Atauta team considers to be its two vineyards in any given vintage. This is a compact, serious, layered Tempranillo that has the concentration and intensity of a Cornas, with inky depths, liquorice, damson and black olive flavours and toasty 15% new wood.

Plums, red cherries and chestnuts on the nose, with chalk and mineral tension. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, with chalky, tense tannins and bright, delineated fruit, showing both red tones and crunchy blue fruit. Very focused and vibrant. Already delicious but will evolve favorably.
