Lobenberg: Lynch Bages besteht 2016 aus 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc und 2% Petit Verdot. 75% neues Holz. Wir sind in der höchsten Konzentration an Cabernet seit 2010. Das ist umso faszinierender, als dass die Nase im Grunde Merlot repräsentiert mit dieser wunderschönen Üppigkeit. Mit dieser runden, fast fetten schwarzen Kirsche und Brombeere. Maulbeere kommt neben einer schönen Süße, Tabakkiste, Zedernholz, hinzu. Das macht wieder deutlich: Pauillac. Dann kommt schwarze Johannisbeere. Aber alles weich, getragen, fast schick. Im Mund dominiert die Cabernet dann total, mit einer ganz schönen Dramatik und viel Grip. Sehr kraftvoll, sattes Tannin. Sehr Pauillac. Ganz druckvoller Mund mit langem, mineralischen Finale. Schwarze Johannisbeere, Brombeere, schwarze Lakritze, Veilchen, feine Bitterstoffe aber nicht überextrahiert trotz der vielen Power. Ein Power-Wein mit schicker Erhabenheit, mit Frische und Finesse. Aber es bleibt ein Power-Wein. Es ist keine geschliffene Feinheit im Vordergrund, sondern eindeutig reifer, intensiver, maskuliner Pauillac. 97-99/100

-- Jane Anson: Muscular but finely-tuned, with a floral, rose-stem edge to Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant flavours that elevates this beyond its surrounding vintages, as is often the case with exceptional 2016s on the Left Bank. Give it time in the glass if you are going near it any time soon, and allow the brambled fruits to appear, with creamy black cherry and damson puree on full display finessed with pencil lead, plum pudding, liqourice and slate-strewn tannins that give a mouth-watering finish. Great stuff, this is one to savour over the long term. 75% new oak. 99/100

-- Suckling: This is really back-ended thanks to a powerful and almost endless finish. Full-bodied, dense and powerful with incredible concentration and length. Round and polished tannins. Layered. This unravels bit by bit. Energetic acidity gives it such superb freshness. This is at the 2010/2009 level. 98-99/100

-- Quarin: Couleur noire et pourpre. Nez intense, fin, fruité, pur et suave. Notes de mûres et d'âtre de cheminée (le marqueur du cabernet sauvignon). Grande entrée en bouche ample et juteuse. Le vin se met à fondre avec beaucoup de goût et très vite une grande énergie. Tannique, mais sans cesse enrobé, il évolue riche, sèveux, avec une âpreté un peu plus marquée cette année que sur d'autres vins. C'est du Lynch Bages plus ! Très grande longueur. Dans l'histoire des vins du Médoc, il se pourrait que ce Lynch Bages 2016 succède au mythique Mouton Rothschild 1945, justement de par cette extraction un peu plus poussée et non volontaire. 98/100

-- Parker: Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Lynch Bages comes charging out of the gate with pronounced cassis, chocolate-covered cherries, mulberries and menthol notions, backed up by scents of garrigue, tilled soil and a waft of tapenade. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fantastically concentrated, the generous fruit is superbly framed by firm, ripe, grainy tannins with tons of pepper, cinnamon and cloves layers coming through on the finish. Truly, a legendary Lynch Bages! 97+/100

-- NM: --NM: he 2016 Lynch-Bages delivers on its promise from barrel with an intense blackberry, cedar and mineral-driven bouquet that actually reminds me of Lafite-Rothschild. A faint dark chocolate scent makes a brief appearance. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannin, pure black fruit and a velvety texture. There is wonderful structure and focus on the finish, followed by a persistent saline aftertaste. This is an outstanding Lynch-Bages, easily the best since the twin titans of 1989 and 1990. 97/100

-- International Wine Report: -- IWR: The 2016 Château Lynch-Bages is utterly captivating. Composed from 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, which spent 18 months in barrel (75% new oak). This stunning Pauillac opens with striking aromas of ripe blackberries and dark cherries, joined together with fresh violets, tobacco and hints of licorice all developing in the glass. On the palate this is medium to full bodied with a gorgeous velvety texture which is underlined by lovely streak of acidity keeping it fresh and inviting through the finish. It continues to impress with its excellent overall balance, concentration and focus all they way through the long finish. While this is already showing plenty of character, it is ultimately and age worthy wine which will go on to evolve for decades. Jean-Charles Cazes and consultant Eric Boissenot have crafted a classic Lynch-Bages in 2016. 97/100

-- Gerstl: Das ist ein grosser Lynch, das zeigt schon der Duft ganz klar, sensationelle Tiefe, irre Komplexität, das ist so etwas von edel, das ist Lynch-Bages, wie man es sich schöner nicht vorstellen könnte, ein bombastisches Konzentrat und ein unvergleichliches Finessenbündel. Wow, das übertrifft aller Erwartungen, das ist wohl einer der konzentriertesten aller Bordeaux 2016, aber der ist so etwas von megafein, ein kleines Wunder der Natur, diese atemberaubende Frische in Verbindung mit einer Süsse, die raffinierter nicht sein könnte, der gehört ohne Zweifel zum allerbesten, was Lynch jemals produziert hat. 20/20
