Heiner Lobenberg über:
Chateau La Gaffeliere 1er Grand Cru Classe B 2016

96–98
/100

Lobenberg: Dichte, reiche Schwarzkirsche und Brombeere in der Nase. Hohe Intensität, etwas plump, würzig, reich rüberkommend. Schwarzer Kirschmund.

-- International Wine Report: -- IWR: The 2016 Château Canon la Gaffelière is another sensational release from Stephan von Neipperg. Composed of 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the clay-limestone/clay-sand soils at the south-foot of the slope. It was aged in new oak barrels (60%) on the lees for 17 months. The wine itself begins to impress with its aromas of dark raspberries and red currants woven together with fresh spring florals, tobacco, toast and hints of topsoil all taking shape beautifully in the glass. On the palate this possesses a gorgeous medium-plus body with an outstanding plush texture, together with wonderful overall structure and balance. It displays excellent precision and definition through the long, complex finish. While this is already showing early appeal, readers should plan on cellaring this for at least 5 years. This is a special wine from this estate. 97/100

Jane Anson über: Chateau La Gaffeliere 1er Grand Cru Classe B

-- Jane Anson: Deep rich plum in colour, spiced cumin, loganberry, blood orange, cranberry and white pepper, there is the austerity here which was true even during En Primeur, now elongating into finesse and consistency of delivery. Franck Darricau winemaker, Stéphane Derenoncourt consultant, Alexandre de Malet Roquefort owner. 60% new oak for ageing, with a late harvest through to the middle of October.

-- Wine Enthusiast: This is a firmly structured wine, its tannins dominating the potential of the ripe fruit. It will take many years to develop into the impressive wine that it is sure to become. 95–97/100
