Heiner Lobenberg über:
Chateau Franc Mayne Grand Cru Classe 2022

95–96
/100

Wine Cellar Insider über: Chateau Franc Mayne Grand Cru Classe

-- Wine Cellar Insider: The wine is loaded with lusciously-textured, black cherries, licorice, cocoa, and espresso beans. The wine is rich, supple, long, and fresh with a depth of flavor, freshness, lift and elegance and a salty mineral essence in the finish. The wine sports a new, updated label. The wine was made from 100% Merlot. Drink from 2026-2045. 94-96/100

Galloni über: Chateau Franc Mayne Grand Cru Classe

-- Galloni: The 2022 Franc Mayne is beautiful but also very young. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2022 is a big, dense wine. A blast of dark red-toned fruit, new leather, spice, menthol, licorice and dried herbs fills out the layers. Beautifully long and persistent, Franc Mayne has a lot to offer. This sensual style will provide rewarding drinking for the next several decades.

Jeb Dunnuck über: Chateau Franc Mayne Grand Cru Classe

-- Jeb Dunnuck: The 2022 Château Franc Mayne is based on 100% Merlot that was raised in 50% new barrels. Spicy black cherries, underbrush, leather, and violet/incense-like notes all define the aromatics, and it's a medium to full-bodied, nicely balanced, concentrated Saint-Emilion that will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and keep for 15+ years in cold cellars. I love its complexity, and it develops a terrific sense of minerality with time in the glass.

Suckling über: Chateau Franc Mayne Grand Cru Classe

-- Suckling: Aromas of blackberries and dark cherries with some fresh herbs such as basil follow through to a full body with silky and slightly chewy tannins and a juicy finish. Fine tannin texture at the end. A structured young Bordeaux. Made from organically grown grapes. Drink after 2028.

Neal Martin über: Chateau Franc Mayne Grand Cru Classe

-- Neal Martin: The 2022 Grand Mayne offers an intense yet well-defined bouquet, with aromas of blackberry, raspberry, light cedar, and a hint of undergrowth that gain further delineation in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, opening with a touch of vanilla, but beneath that lies remarkable depth and composure. This Saint-Émilion carries impressive weight, coating the mouth toward the finish. With its immense promise, it deserves several years in the bottle to fully evolve.

Parker über: Chateau Franc Mayne Grand Cru Classe

-- Parker: Superb as the 2020 was, the 2022 Franc-Mayne appears to represent still another step up in quality for this seven-hectare clay-limestone terroir. Offering up aromas of dark berries, plums, raw cocoa, violets and bay leaf, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy, with a pure and vibrant core of fruit, supple tannins and a long, mouthwatering finish. The label marks this estate's first year of organic certification. 93-95/100
