Das erste mal für mich fast auf dem gleichen Level wie der auf exakt dem gleichen Kalksteinfels stehende Tour Saint Christophe, der normaler Weise wegen seiner Süd- und Südwestexposition immer vorne liegt, aber im warmen trockenen 2022 ist Barde Hauts Nord- und Ostexposition auch nicht zu verachten. Satte schwarze Beeren mit Veilchen und Lakritze, viel Schmelz. Reiche Fülle und sattes, butterweiches Tannin mit salzig mineralischem Nachhall. Archetypisch Saint Emilion.

Der Ausnahme-Jahrgang 2022 gilt als eine der konzentriertesten und reichsten Saisons aller Zeiten – trotz extremer Sommerhitze bestechen die Top-Weine mit monumentaler Dichte, einer überraschend tiefen Säurestruktur und beispiellosem Lagerpotenzial.

The 2022 Château Barde-Haut checks in as the usual blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc that was brought up 50 to 60% new barrels, with the balance in once- and twice-used barrels, with a small amount in tank. Gorgeous black raspberries, blue fruits, smoky tobacco, violets, and crushed stone all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a silky, elegant mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great, great finish. It’s not far off the style of the 2020 (and 2010), and is a rocking little Saint-Emilion to enjoy over the coming 20+ years.

Weich im Auftakt, aromatisch und kräftig in der Mitte, dabei schmelzend, gleitet der Wein schmackhaft in einen langen Abgang, in dem ein Extra an Aromen zurückkehrt. The full-bodied palate is rich and juicy with firm, rounded tannins and plenty of freshness to give lift to the long opulent finish.
