Lobenberg: Jedes Jahr vor Weihnachten bringt Chapoutier eine Liste mit speziellen, vom Weingut selbst gebauten Paketen aus der Schatzkammer heraus. Die VIT Vertikale 2008 bis 2010 hat uns besonders gut gefallen, weil es kaum Aufpreis für die Lagerung gibt und weil es drei herausragende Jahrgänge sind. Die Weine waren alle bis Ende 2024 im Weingut gelagert. *** Die Bezeichnung V.I.T. bedeutet »Visitare Interiore Terrae« – ursprünglich ein Spruch der Freimaurer. Es geht um Vitriole, einen bunten Stein, den die Alchemisten in früheren Zeiten für den Stein der Weisen gehalten haben. Ein bisschen Esoterik, aber am Ende will es sagen, dass wir hier ganz im Ursprünglichen sind. Die Cuvée besteht aus 60 Prozent Grenache und 40 Prozent Syrah, die Reben sind 40 bis 50 Jahre alt und geben extrem kleine Erträge. Die Syrah steht auf Gneis, die Grenache komplett auf Kalkstein. Der Weinberg liegt auf 150 Höhenmetern. Im Keller werden die Trauben zu 100 Prozent entrappt. Die Grenache wird im Stahl vergoren und ausgebaut, die Syrah in Beton und zu einem kleinen Teil im Barrique. Der 2021er ist bereits komplett biodynamisch zertifiziert.

-- Parker: Jahrgang 2008: A 60-40 Grenache-Syrah (as well as chalk-clay - schist) blend raised in various sizes of barrel, the Bila-Haut 2008 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Latour de France v.i.t is gorgeously-scented with gentian, iris, wild berries, and spice; then delivers a bright melange of fresh black and red raspberry with smoked meat, licorice, cinnamon and tonka nut. Succulently ripe and subtly velvety, with tannins so fine as to nearly disappear, this builds to a finish of vibratory impingement and interactive complexity, all reminiscent of the extraordinary 2006 (reviewed in issue 183) and likely to dazzle for well more than a decade, even if the track record for this cuvee is not yet that long. 94/100 *** Jahrgang 2009: Tasted assembled from tank after recent racking, the 2009 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Latour de France v.i.t (the initials standing for 'visitare interiore terrae') smells of fennel, rosemary, juniper, and abundant black fruits. Palate-saturating and caressing, it boasts abundant though fine tannins and a seamless ripeness free of any superficial sweetness. While this lacks the vibrancy or complexity of the corresponding 2008 or its evocative length, let's see what happens once it has settled down from racking and then had time to rest in bottle. It should be a candidate for at least a decade's aging. 91-92/100
