Der Godello El Castro de Valtuille stammt aus vier Parzellen in einigen der kühleren Weinberge in den Dörfern Valtuille und Villafranca del Bierzo. Spontanvergärung, keine Bâtonnage, kein Abzug, eher reduktiver Ausbau, das bewahrt die geniale Frische. Sehr ausdrucksstark mit Aromen von Blütenstaub und Bienenwachs, dazu kommen ein Hauch Kampfer und Kamille. Alles mit diesen herrlich würzigen Untertönen. Ein wunderbar tiefer und komplexer Wein im Stil eines burgundischen Chardonnays mit weniger Holz. Superber Trinkfluss und ein extrem schicker Nachhall.

Der spektakuläre Jahrgang 2023 gilt in Spanien als Meilenstein der Eleganz. Deutlich balancierter als 2022, präsentieren sich die Weine als reife, ungemein harmonische Version von 2020. Sie bestechen mit einer steinigen Reduktion, atemberaubender Sauberkeit und einer präzisen Symmetrie von absolutem Weltrang.

Parker über: El Castro de Valtuille Godello

The entry-level white 2023 El Castro de Valtuille Godello comes from four plots in the village of Valtuille on clay soils with different percentages of sand, rocks and quartzite. It fermented and matured in larger and smaller barrels for almost one year. All the 2023 whites are more reductive, with hints of gunpowder and flint. This is the one that is more approachable. It comes from a less ripe vintage with more acidity and with rain during the harvest. It has more minerality in the style of 2021, with contained ripeness, 13.19% alcohol, a low pH of 3.06 and 7.1 grams of acidity. It's vibrant and has a salty finish. 8,000 bottles were filled in December 2024.

Bitter lemons on the steely and austere nose. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with bright, linear acidity balanced by texture and extract. Sourced from three 30-year-old godello vineyards. Aged for a year in used French barrels. Excellent value. Drink now.
