Clarete Rosado
The 2024 Clarete was produced with a blend of white and red grapes—Tempranillo, Garnacha, Bobal, Pirulés, Albillo and Malvasía—from different places and fermented together; it's the definition of clarete, which is different from a rosé. The grapes were foot trodden in lagar and pressed in a hydraulic press and fermented in 300-liter barrels, where most of it matured for 12 months, with a part in a concrete egg. It has around 30% white grapes, perhaps more. The vineyards are all field blends of red and white grapes, but the plots that have more white varieties are sourced from different vineyards and villages. The wine looks like a light red but with a dark orange color. It's subtle and perfumed, elegant and nuanced, floral and spicy. It is juicy and has good ripeness, with 13.5% alcohol, and a balanced mouthfeel. This is a serious clarete for gastronomy and for the long haul. 2,065 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2025.
