Parker über: Rioja Tinto

They went for a more approachable and juicier red in 2023, and the 2023 Tinto was produced with less Tempranillo (65%) and more Garnacha and white grapes, 25% and 10%, respectively. It has less alcohol than the 2022, still 14.1%, keeping a pH of 3.6 and 4.9 grams of acidity. It has notes of aromatic herbs and very ripe berry fruit and is a little earthy and dusty. The palate is quite balanced and focused, better than the nose. It fermented in stainless steel with three to four weeks of maceration, where the wine stayed for longer this year and later matured in 1,000- and 3,000-liter oak foudres and some barrels for a little longer this year. 22,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2026.

Tim Atkin über: Rioja Tinto

Óscar Alegre and Eva Valgañón get their Garnacha from two vineyards – Aguachal in Sajazarra and La Villa in Cárdenas. Chalky, spicy and intense, with a peppery note from 15% whole clusters, it’s a medley of potpourri, raspberry and Turkish Delight framed by fine-grained tannins.

Galloni über: Rioja Tinto

The 2023 Tinto from Fonzaleche and Zarratón (Rioja Alta) was fermented in vats and concrete, then aged in 3,000-liter foudres. Harvested early in a warm year, it offers vibrant fruit between cherry and strawberry, framed by subtle aging notes. Firm at present, the palate is shaped by pronounced tannins and a chalky grip, giving it a compact structure. A slightly herbal note lingers on the finish. It needs time.
