Punto de Fuga Corral del Mate
The 2024 Punto de Fuga Corral del Mate is from their joint venture with Matías Michelini from Argentina and comes from a 0.53-hectare plot within the paraje, or lieu-dit, Corral de los Altos on limestone, schist and alluvial soils that contains some mutations of the grapes to Garnacha Gris. It fermented with 50% full clusters in a 700-liter amphora (tinaja), while the destemmed grapes were in second-use 500-liter barrels, where the wine matured. This is serious and spicy, picked early and with the complexity of different fermentations and the influence from the whole clusters, spicy and a little reductive. This has a different personality from the pure Zorzal wines, with the influence of Matías Michelini. It's medium-bodied with contained ripeness and a low 12.65% alcohol, keeping a pH of 3.28 and 5.75 grams of acidity. It might feel light, but it's not, and it even has some earthiness, more tannin and a little more extraction. It's one for the long haul. 1,600 bottles were filled in July 2025.
