Montsant Guix Vermell
The red Garnacha 2022 Guix Vermell comes from the Els Montalts vineyard at 800 meters above sea level close to Les Manyes from Terroir al Limit on red clay and gypsum soils planted 50 years ago. It fermented with full clusters and indigenous yeasts in concrete for six to eight days and matured in concrete for six months. This is riper at 14.5% alcohol and with a higher pH and lower acidity. As soon as you see it, you know it's different; it has a darker color than the rest of the range. This part of the vineyard, which is quite large, over four hectares, has very balanced plants, but they still don't know about the soils, which they are going to study next year. They let the grapes achieve full ripeness and development of aromas and flavors. They also do a little bit more extraction, but still very mild, and the wine has more stuffing and structure than the other reds. The aromas are a combination of red and black fruit, flowers and wild herbs, a little more Mediterranean this year. It's very tasty with pungent flavors and fine tannins. Only 468 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2023.
