Goldgelb, sehr florale Nase, Limettenzesten, Zitronengras und schon in der Nase Mineralität. Salzig floraler Mund wieder mit dem tollen Zitronengras, leichte Reduktion. Ein faszinierendes Unikat.

Der spektakuläre Jahrgang 2023 gilt in Spanien als Meilenstein der Eleganz. Deutlich balancierter als 2022, präsentieren sich die Weine als reife, ungemein harmonische Version von 2020. Sie bestechen mit einer steinigen Reduktion, atemberaubender Sauberkeit und einer präzisen Symmetrie von absolutem Weltrang.

Parker über: MA Doña Blanca

The 2023 Doña Blanca was produced with grapes from old vines in the lieu-dit Las Gundiñas from Villafranca del Bierzo, a place with deeper soils and more clay. It fermented in used barriques, where it matured for two springs with the full lees and some of the barrels developed flor. It has a golden color and a spicy, toasty and smoky nose, with a core of dried flowers and herbs. It's aromatic, open and expressive and has a very serious, stony and chalky palate with a salty twist in the finish. It has 12.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.5 and 6.5 grams of acidity. 1,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2025.

Herbal with fennel, subtle nectarines and white peaches. The fresh, angular palate has a seductive, velvety sense of fruit and texture complemented by linear acidity. Elegant mineral finish. Savory, delicious and very long. Sourced from vineyards around Valdecanada. Aged in amphorae. Drink now or hold.

Tim Atkin über: MA Doña Blanca

Subtle and elegant, this Doña Blanca comes from a slope above Ponferrada with stony soils and slate. It is fermented and aged for almost two years in foudres without racking or bâtonnage but with lees contact. The result is a wine with a hint of oiliness and appealing stony reduction. It is gently honeyed with a generous palate and a lingering cinnamon spice on the finish. A serious Spanish white that speaks to its terroir.

Galloni über: MA Doña Blanca

The 2023 Doña Blanca MA blends grapes from Bierzo and was aged for 14 months in barrels, with up to 20% new oak. Moderately aromatic, the aging provides a nutty, lightly herbal and slightly reductive profile. Dry, vibrant and tense, it leaves a chalky impression on the finish, with oak reemerging at the back of the palate. This has a vibrant, Burgundian-leaning style that will benefit from time in bottle.
