The Montlandrie is from limestone soils, a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc aged in 50% new oak. The nose is very harmonious and pure with scents of strawberry cheesecake, fresh raspberry and a touch of spice. There is just a little reduction but it soon blows away. The palate is medium-bodied with very smooth, filigree tannins. There is a fine sense of symmetry to this wine, focused and long in the mouth, with a sensual dark cherry and bergamot tinged finish. Gorgeous. Tasted November 2012

Jane Anson über: Chateau Montlandrie

Firm ruby colour, soft tertiary woodsmoke and saffron flavours, this is good quality, with lilting acidity, touch of liquorice root, orange peel, pomegranate and raspberry leaf. Great stuff, but the 2009 Montlandrie takes the podium. Second vintage under Denis Durantou.
