Diese Hommage an Sir Winston Churchill vereint alle Charaktereigenschaften, die Churchill an Pol Roger so liebte. Charakterstärke, Robustheit und Reife. Hier dominiert der Pinot Noir. Nur von Grand Cru klassifizierten Lagen und besonders langer reife auf der Feinhefe. Die Cuvée gibt es nur in den besten Jahren. Also 1996, 1999, 2002 und nun auch 2004. Das ist eine der nobelsten Cuvées der Champagne. Viel Brioche und Honig, etwas frischer Tabak und trotzdem Salzigkeit am Gaumen. Ein Charakterchampagner. 96-98/100

It is a magnificent wine, structured and beautifully balanced between the ripe white fruits and the tight texture that will allow it to age many years. Apricot, chamomile, white flowers, baked apple tart and butter build effortlessly as the 2004 gains intensity through the mid-palate. This explodes beautifully on the finish.
