2023 Morstein GG : From vines planted in 1944, the Westhofen 2023 Morstein Riesling GG opens intense and fine like a perfume, with wet chalk, lemon juice and yellow plum aromas. Full-bodied, pure and refined on the palate, this is a juicy, savory and saline, finely tannic and chalky Riesling with a long, aromatic and stimulating finish. I tasted this potentially great wine as a sample in May 2024. It was to be bottled in July, but it won't be released before May 2025. 96-98/100 *** 2023 Kirchspiel GG : The Westhofen 2023 Kirchspiel Riesling GG is deep and intense on the concentrated and calcareous, slightly floral nose. Lush and round on the palate, this is an elegant, finessed and concentrated, very intense, tight and saline-finishing Kirchspiel with fine tannins. There are minty notes and white pepper on the finish. Tasted as a sample in May this year, the wine was to be bottled in July. 95-96/100 *** 2023 Oberer Hubacker GG: Picked at 31 hectoliters per hectare, the sample of the Dalsheimer 2023 Oberer Hubacker Riesling GG is deep and pure yet not ascetic on the nose that indicates ripe fruit with yeasty and saline notes. Full-bodied, tight and fresh on the palate, this is a dense yet weightless and finessed, persistently salty and finely juicy but always calcareous Riesling. Tasted in May 2024, this wine is expected to be released in May 2025. 95-96/100 *** 2023 Abts E GG : From the Abtserde plot within the Brunnenhäuschen site in Westhofen, the 2023 Abts E Riesling GG is incredibly pure, deep and intense on the nose that is concentrated and chalky, with saline and lemony notes. Full-bodied, pure, fresh and saline on the palate, this is a highly complex and tight Riesling with a very intense, aromatic and structured finish. A great Riesling! Tasted as a sample in May this year. 98-100 *** 2023 G-Max : Tasted as a sample in May this year, the 2023 Riesling G-Max is very deep, pure and intense on the nose. Silky, round and finessed on the palate, this is a full-bodied, fresh, very intense and saline, very noble and balanced Riesling that is so generous, smooth and elegant that it nourishes very high expectations. Is this possibly the finest G-Max since the 2019 vintage? The wine will be released in May 2025 98-100/100
