Lobenberg: Natürlich alles biodynamisch bewirtschaftet. Handlese in mehreren Durchgängen bei denen immer nur die gerade optimal reifen Trauben geerntet werden. Langsame, pneumatische Pressung, 24 Stunden Sedimentationszeit und dann ab in die Fässer. Vergärung im Barrique mit gewissen Neuholzanteilen bei den Grands Crus. Etwa ein Drittel der Fässer sind aus Vogesen-Eiche, zwei Drittel sind aus Allier. Der Wein verbleibt für 12 Monate im Barrique und anschließend für weitere 6 Monate im Edelstahltank zur Harmonisierung vor der Abfüllung. Eine minimale Filtration vor der Füllung erfolgt nur wenn nötig. Nicht wenige Insider schätzen den Chevalier-Montrachet als stärksten Grand Cru bei Leflaive ein, noch vor dem Montrachet, von dem es jährlich nur ein einziges Fass gibt. Viel mehr ist es beim Chevalier allerdings auch nicht. Die Parzelle ist höher gelegen und entsprechend ist der Chevalier immer der rassigere, straffere und etwas spannungsgeladenere Wein mit Zitruszesten, Minze und fast brachialer Kalkstein-Energie, die alles überflügelt. Ein gigantischer Chardonnay und die Quintessenz der Gemeinde Puligny-Montrachet. Besser geht es nicht mehr.

-- Decanter: This wine was too young to drink when tasted at the winery shortly after release, but it amply demonstrated both the quality and potential for aging. There was an almost-unbelievable concentration of aroma, with lemon peel and lime leaf leading the way, accented with notes of smoke, chalky, saline mineral notes, and a hint of fresh cream and spice. The texture was broad and rich, yet there was surprising freshness for the vintage. The combination of density, vibrant acidity and profoundly complex aromas mean this will age forever. Try to wait a decade before pulling the cork. 99/100

Chiseled and concentrated, uniting texture and tension, it concludes with a long, penetrating finish. 98/100

-- Galloni: The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a terse, mineral, flinty bouquet with touches of powdered chalk coming through with time, later a Crustacea note. You would think someone has wandered in with a silver turine of fruits de mer! The palate is very poised on the entry with a twist of sour lemon, crisp acidity, tensile with a vibrant and quite nervous finish that lingers in the mouth with a spicy aftertaste. 97/100

-- Jancis Robinson: 12 months in oak, then in tank until bottling. Tank sample. Pure, linear and lofty. Great concentration with citrus and a leesy weight. Deceptively open and demonstrative, I think. Serious ballast in weight and length. Thrilling in its way. 18,5/20
