Lobenberg: Auf 1100 Metern gewachsene Grenache auf Quartz- und Kalkstein und Sand. Nur 3,0 PH bei nur 13 Grad Alkohol bedeutet geniale bis atemberaubende Frische und dazu Schärfe! Ein Extremist, extrem lange auf den ganzen Trauben vergoren. Das ist Comando G in archetypischer Form und in seiner Expressivität trotz aller Finesse und mittlerem Körper sicher nicht everybodys darling. Viel rote Frucht und satte Floralität gibt auch viel Charme, aber Salz, Säure, Krautwürze und Schärfe dominieren dieses vibrierende Unikat. Toller, extremer Stoff.

2023 war sehr warm, aber er ist deutlich kühler und balancierter als der noch heißere und trockenere 2022. Nicht so aufregend und extrem wie 2021, eher eine reife und harmonische Version von 2020. Und so ist 2023 durchaus eine Fortsetzung der so großen Jahrgänge seit 2019. Luis Gutierez, Parkers Mann für Spanien, fasst den Jahrgang 2023 anhand von Alvaro Palacios Weingütern ganz im Westen und ganz im Osten, somit Landesübergreifend so zusammen: 2023 was an even more generous crop than 2022 … the wines have better balance, and it doesn't feel like a warm year at all. In fact, the wines feel more like they come from a cool year. It's a vintage that has a tendency toward reduction, not as much as 2020, but still reductive. But it's an elegant, stony reduction...The quality of the 2023s is stunning. There is a level of precision, cleanliness, symmetry and elegance that, if the end of the élevage and the bottling goes as expected, I must conclude that 2023 might be the finest vintage ... There might be other individual wines that reach higher peaks, but as an overall portfolio, the vintage 2023 represents the strongest collection ever produced.

Parker über: Navatalgordo Village Garnacha

-- Parker: The village 2023 Navatalgordo has grapes (mostly purchased from regular suppliers) from five different parajes or lieu-dits from the stony and quartz soils from the village. It has a stony personality but a perfumed nose of violets and violet pastille, with silty tannins and good grip. It matured in oak vats to polish those village tannins. It's very complete and opens up in the glass nicely, as it's a little more austere than the one from Villanueva. This is the more tannic of the village reds. 9,965 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2024.

-- Suckling: A brambly and open expression from Comando G, with scented, ethereal smoke, agave, white pepper and bergamot. If you enjoy drinking mezcal, then you’ll probably find some similarities here. On the palate, this is a round and fruity, with an abundance of chalky tannins, even though fruitiness is not part of its nature. A structured red from Navatalgordo. Drink now.
