Lobenberg: 70% Mourvedre 20% Grenache 10% Syrah. Anders als die anderen Weine komplett entrappt, mit natürlicher Hefe in Zement vergoren. Malo und Ausbau vollständig im neuen Barrique. Stephane Usseglios Hommage an die Moderne. Aufgrund der hohen Säure ist das viele Holz in Nase und Mund gut kompensiert - Säure frisst bekanntlich Holz. 2019 war dafür besonders geeignet. Das hohe Gleichgewicht in der Nase überrascht, satte schwarze Frucht mit gelber Frucht, schwarze Kirsche, Maulbeere und Brombeere treffen auf Mango und Passionsfrucht. Das Ganze bildet ein Gleichgewicht auf sehr hohem Qualitätsniveau. Im Mund kommt dazu noch ein Hauch Orange und Zimt, flüssige dunkle Schokolade, final stellt sich konzentrierte Walderdbeere mit schwarzer und roter Kirsche und Maulbeere ein. In Summe ein dunkler, schwarzfruchtiger Wein mit salziger Mineralität, üppig, strukturierter Blockbuster. Die sensationelle Mourvedre gibt tolle Frische, der beste Wein dieser Art, den Stephane je gemacht hat. Erstmalig der Cuvee Imperiale gleichwertig. 97-98/100

-- Falstaff: Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Ockerrandaufhellung. Schwarze Frucht, kräuterwürzig, süßer Tabak, kandierte Orangenzesten, etwas Lakritze. Komplex, saftig, schwarze Kirschen, deutlich von vollreifem Mourvèdre geprägt, straffe Tannine, gute Länge, sollte noch gut fünf Jahre reifen, großes Zukunftspotenzial. 97/100

-- Suckling: An unusual and impressive Chateauneuf-du-Pape with a slew of elderberries and a licorice character. Enormous structure and concentration, the full tannins are already well integrated. The depth at the fundamental finish suggests this needs a lot more time to reach its best. A blend of 70% mourvedre, 20% grenache and 10% syrah. From Demeter-certified biodynamically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2024. 96/100

Inky hued, with lots of new oak in its cassis and peppery aromas and flavors, it has remarkable purity, full-bodied richness, and ultra-fine tannins. It’s young, unevolved, and in need of 5-7 years of bottle age, but it’s a killer Châteauneuf du Pape! 95/100

A bit oaky at the outset, that should fade with age as all the layers of ripe, earthy, spicy, peppery, dark red fruits emerge. The wine is full-bodied, powerful and impressive, but it needs time for the oak to integrate. Give it 6-8 years in the cellar and this could be even better. With its blend of 70% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache and 10% Syrah, this should age quite nicely.95/100

It's full-bodied and tannic, including a hefty dose of wood tannins. While I have a good deal of faith in this producer, tasted blind, I'm not entirely sure if this will ultimately pull itself together. 93+/100

-- Galloni: Opaque ruby. Heady, oak-spiced black and blue fruits, pungent flowers, woodsmoke and licorice, along with a smoky nuance and a hint of cola. Broad and chewy in the mouth, offering cherry-vanilla, blackberry, candied violet and bitter chocolate flavors that turn sweeter through the back half. Finishes very long and spicy, with a repeating vanilla note and steadily building tannins. 93/100
