Irrer Stoff!

Parker über: Champagne Cristal Rosé Brut

Tasted at the IMW Louis Roederer tasting. A blend of 56% Pinot Noir and 44% Chardonnay, 20% oak fermented. Disgorged in April 2008, this has a light, dewy, rose petal tinged nose that is as light as a feather. Very understated and alluring. It unfurls in the glass with hints of hazelnut, strawberry pralines and a hint of icing sugar. The palate is beautifully balanced, silky smooth, touches of morello, orange peel, acacia, very refined and poised on the finish. Beautiful. Drink now-2025+ Tasted December 2009.

Suckling über: Champagne Cristal Rosé Brut

The sense of completeness here is stunning. This has very complex aromas of sous-bois, blood oranges and spicy, lightly toasty elements, as well as a wealth of dried roses, brown, woody spices, gunflint and pot-pourri. Expansive, playful palate with exotic pink grapefruit and a silky, soft and fleshy, supple edge. Almost airy, soft, delicate fruit. Full of happiness! Vibrant, succulent cherries to close. Holds super long. This really is in a great place. Original disgorgement in 2012.

Galloni über: Champagne Cristal Rosé Brut

As hard as it may seem to believe, the 2002 Cristal Rosé (Re-Release) is even better than the Blanc. Utterly explosive in the glass, with soaring aromatics and tremendous palate presence, the 2002 dazzles from the very first taste. With time in the glass the 2002 grows effortlessly, showing myriad shades of nuance with each successive taste. I am reminded of the vertical I did of Cristal Rosé here a few years ago. Yes, the Rosé is expensive and rare. But it also delivers the goods. And then some.

Decanter über: Champagne Cristal Rosé Brut

Having rested in Louis Roederer's cellars for 20 years (three of which were post-disgorgement), the newly-released Cristal Rosé Vinothèque in magnum is a striking reminder of all this remarkable vintage's high points. The typical Cristal restraint and understatement pervades, but the fruit signature is deep and mature, with Seville orange, intense redcurrant fruitiness and beautifully fragrant ginger and white pepper spicing. Silky soft in mousse and tapered in fleshiness, it is all grounded with a beautiful toasty savour and the sweetness of ageing – brown bread and honey – yet nothing heavy or creamy. A marvel.

Wine Enthusiast über: Champagne Cristal Rosé Brut

Showing its age well, this wine offers a mature toastiness balanced by rich red fruit. The acidity is well integrated, making this impressive wine ready to drink now.

Jancis Robinson über: Champagne Cristal Rosé Brut

This is already amazingly rich and long. Great density and breadth. I can see how this wine triumphed over all the other 650 entries in the first Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships. It just shows what an improvement there has been in recent years in the quality of pink champagne. This wine comes from six specific top-quality parcels that make some of the ripest wines, and it tastes like it. But there is nothing remotely fat about this. Very sophisticated indeed with a beautiful texture.
