Lobenberg: Sehr dunkles Rubinrot, burgundisch. Die ätherisch berauschende Nase lässt Assoziationen an einen Grand Cru aus Chambolle Musigny aufkommen. Cassis wie bei Leoville Las Cases in Saint Julien, auch ein Hauch der feinen Kirschfrucht mit etwas Goudron und Teer eines Barolo Cannubi Boschis von Sandrone... Im Mund dann eine Explosion in roter Frucht und Kirsche mit Schokolade, etwas Brombeere und superber Säure, alles immens dicht und doch unendlich fein und elegant, eine nie probierte Balance und Harmonie in einem Brunello. Das ist einer der ultimativ besten, je von mir probierten Brunello di Montalcino! 98+/100

Poggio di Sotto is one of the benchmarks of Montalcino, and the winery team continues the tradition with this 22,000-bottle release. There's a lot of red fruit energy deep inside that should stir this wine on course as it ages over the next two decades.96/100

-- Galloni: Luminous red. Delicately smoky and ripe on the nose, with deep raspberry and red cherry aromas complicated by notes of sandalwood, licorice, graphite and sweet pipe tobacco. Full and rich but also very bright, with red and dark berry flavors given life by juicy, harmonious acidity and very nicely framed by supple tannins. Closes long, fresh, and expansive, deeper and less sweet than the estate’s 2018 Rosso di Montalcino also released this year. Utterly delicious and already accessible, this boasts noteworthy elegance and freshness for such a big ripe wine. 96/100

-- Falstaff: Funkelndes, aufhellendes Granatrot. Fein gezeichnete, sehr klare Nase nach frischen Kirschen und Zwetschken, etwas Chinarinde im Hintergrund. Rollt saftig und salzig über die Zunge, feines, griffiges Tannin in vielen Schichten, viel Spannung, sehr langer Nachhall. 96/100

-- Decanter: Despite some heavy summer rains, August was very hot but with cool nights. The result was splendid, structured wines of considerable longevity. The cherry aromas are ripe and seductive but lifted and assertive. There's a fine attack that's intense and linear, with sleek tannins that contribute punch and drive, along with tangy supporting acidity. Polished and harmonious, this remains youthful and very long.
