You could drink this now, but the 2009 is still youthful and gives an idea of the ageing potential. *** zu Bienenberg Großes Gewächs 2015: From the stunning ripeness on the nose (the sweetest cherries!), through the graceful entry, through the generous and silky mid-palate and again through the powerful, chalky finish, which has staggering vitality, this is a great pinot noir that's just beginning to reveal its riches. Better from 2019 and on the strength of earlier vintages, this has maybe 20 years' ageing potential. *** zu Sommerhalde Großes Gewächs 2015: Complex nose of black cherries, pomegranate and herbs with discreet toasty oak. Rich and succulent, perfectly integrated tannins. This already has great balance and a long, elegant finish.
