Nat Cool is naturally “cool and funky”. It represents an innovative concept initiated by Niepoort in 2020, in which various producers came together to create light and easy-to-drink wines. In the case of Trudy we have strived to put together a fresh port in the Ruby style, blending wines from different vintages resulting in an average age of 3 years old. The grapes for this wine are primarily sourced from Vale de Mendiz valley in the heart of the Cima Corgo. Vinification was in the old fashioned way. The grapes were foot trodden and fermented in Lagares, followed by ageing in our cool cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia in large old wooden vats. Medium deep ruby colour with slighty exuberant aroma of cherries and dark plums with superb purity of fruit and freshness. On the palate the primary fruit and freshness are very present and superbly integrated with an acid driven seductive backbone of eloquent tannins.
