Lobenberg: Unglaublich dichte, wuchtige Nase, sehr weich und reif. Ist eher klassisch. Viel Brombeere, etwas Blaubeere, Cassis. Sehr wuchtig, drückend. Aber trotzdem nicht spröde. Der Angang ist schon imposant. Im Mund viel Minze, auch helle Lakritze, viel Brombeere, Cassis, auch Blaubeere. Etwas scharf extrahiert, etwas viel Druck zeigend. Ich hätte von dem Jahrgang etwas mehr Eleganz erwartet. Auch die Säure ist etwas spitz, die mineralische Salzspur etwas massiv über der Zunge. Ich finde insgesamt ist der Wein zwar eindrucksvoll, aber ein bisschen gemacht, etwas rustikal in seiner brachialen Art. Kein Superüberflieger. Trotzdem irgendwo sehr eindrucksvoll. 94-95//100

This beautifully expressive left-bank Bordeaux offers up inviting aromas of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, tobacco, forrest floor, loam and underlying hints of menthol. It possesses a medium body with impressive overall structure and concentration from start to finish. This is a simply gorgeous Saint-Julien which has loads of potential and a wonderful future ahead. 95/100

-- Suckling: Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard is a total rock star even at this incredibly youthful stage, strutting the stage with flamboyant freshly crushed red and black currants, black cherries, black raspberries and cassis scents with spectacular lilacs and fragrant earth accents plus sparks of cast iron pan, garrigue and grilled meats. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is charged with amazing energy, packing wonderfully vibrant black fruits, red berries and mineral flavors into a firm, finely grained frame, finishing very long and beautifully lifted.

-- Decanter: Lovely deep damson colour with violet edging that suggests a healthy pH. Great balance of fruit and acidity, this is one of the fresher wines of the appellation. The fruit is cleanly extracted, fresh and well paced, with a lovely layer of complexity driven by smoke-edged mineral notes. Aged in 50% new oak. 94/100

-- Jeb Dunnuck: The 2014 Pontet-Canet seems to have put on quite a bit of weight and volume since I first tasted it from barrel. Ripe, juicy tannins wrap around a core of intense dark cherry, plum, spice, lavender and tobacco. Today, it is the wine's sheer intensity and vertical structure that stands out. I wouldn't dream of touching a bottle until at least age ten, and even that is almost certainly not going to be enough time for the 2014 to show the full breadth of its potential. The transformation the 2014 has undergone from a delicate, nuanced Pauillac to a wine of depth is quite remarkable. Tasted three times. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, vinified in equal parts cement and oak and aged in a combination of 50% new oak, 35% amphora and 15% once used barrels. This is a gorgeous wine from the Tesseron family and the team led by Technical Director Jean-Michel Comme. 93/100

-- Galloni: The 2016 Talbot is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. Black cherry, plum, gravel, smoke, lavender and mint all flesh out in this decidedly imposing, vertical Saint-Julien. Concentrated and forbiddingly tannic at this stage, the 2016 is going to need at least a few years to start coming into its own. It should age gracefully for decades.The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot. Stéphane Derenoncourt and Julien Lavenu consult. Tasted three times.Tasted two times. 92-95/100

-- Gerstl: Der Duft ist total auf der frischen Seite, bis hin zu einem Hauch Würze von grüner Peperoni, alles ist vielfältig und tiefgründig. Etwas rauher in den Tanninen als die Top Weine des Jahrgans, aber immer noch auf der sehr angenehmen Seite, feine Rasse, dezente Süsse, schmackhafte Aromatik, immer noch ein herrlicher Wein. 18/20

Talbot besitzt eine 100 Hektar große ungeteilte Weinbergslage, die sich von der Gironde aus landeinwärts bis hinter Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, nördlich von Gruaud Larose zieht. Die Qualitäten sind seit Jahrzehnten beständig sehr gut, die Weine üppig, fruchtbetont, körperreich und dennoch elegant.
