Sehr dunkles Rubinrot. Sehr feine, schöne und rotbeerige Nase. Ein Ausbund an Eleganz. Feine Süße im Hintergrund. Sehr charmant. Im Mund fast zart. Ätherisch. Sehr geschliffen. Fast nur rote Früchte. Sehr feines Tannin. Rassig, saftig, lebendig. Die ungeheure Kraft und Konzentration versteckt sich so gut hinter der überragenden Finesse, dass mancher Verkoster die wirkliche Klasse nicht erkennen wird. Ich bin sicher, der Wein ist hervorragend. Auch der hohe Alkoholgrad ist kaum zu spüren. Eine Stilistik wie Lafite Rothschild. Einfach nur schön. Kein fetter Blockbuster, aber einer der absolut feinsten Grand Vin, die ich je auf Pichon verkostet habe.

Tasted blind in a peer-group tasting, the Pichon-Lalande showed a ripe plumy nose with blackberry and raspberry, not quite as defined as the sample poured at the château. With time in glass there are scents of cedar wood, a touch of Xmas cake and cassis, all the time gaining vivacity in the glass. The palate is very ripe, beautifully defined with excellent balance. Finesse here, a well-bred Pauillac with a bright, cedar-infused finish that will hopefully just put on a little more weight. Excellent. Drink 2010-2035. Tasted January 2009.

Love the colour of this, deep damson, generous and enticing. The tannins are just astonishingly finessed and generous, chocolate, cedar, cocoa bean, so well constructed, combining depth to the fruit with feather-pillow tannins. Clearly young, decades ahead of it, but this is already confident and enjoyable, effortlessly standing out from this lineup of exceptional wines. It lacks the weight and concentration of the 2009 or 2010 of Comtesse, but it's showing extremely well, and seems to be gaining in power. 50% new oak.

This needs time in the glass, but unfurls to reveal cedar, cinnamon, tobacco, cassis and rose notes. It's heady and confident stuff that I've tasted several times over the past few months and have been hugely impressed by, especially with food. 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. 96/100

In recent years, Pichon Comtesse has developed an elegance all its own, with great style, smoothing out the real intensity of the wine. This 2005 continues in that tradition, a spice, fruity wine, which has restraint as well as hidden power.

What a nose on this, with orchids and currants, this is very perfumed and pretty. Full-bodied, with bright and lively acidity. Rose petals and citrus fruit on the palate give way to a long and intense finish. Wait and see where this goes.

Juicy and sleek in feel, with a gloss of singed vanilla and alder over the core of lively blackberry, fig and black currant paste flavors. Singed charcoal and sweet tobacco notes score the finish and leave a mouthwatering feel. 1850 wurden das Weingut Pichon Longeville wegen eines Erbschaftsfalls geteilt. Eine Hälfte erbte Virginie de Lalande, die noch vor Antritt ihres Erbes den Grafen Henri de Lalande geheiratet hatte. So kam der etwas umständlich lange Name Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande zustande.
