-- Weingut: Venerable Amontillado, another great wine of very old age and a lot of character within the «La bota de» series. One of the great satisfactions provided to us by this Equipo Navazos “adventure” is the opportunity to collaborate with exceptional people, such as those responsible for the Albarizas de Trebujena cooperative. We are privileged that they have allowed us to bottle one of the very few casks of this very old Amontillado they look after as a treasure. La Bota de Amontillado 109 “Bota Punta” reminds us of La Bota de Amontillado Viejísimo 5 “NPI”, for two reasons. The first, its sharp character despite the tremendous concentration caused by age. We believe that those who remember La Bota de NPI No. 5 will find here clear echoes of that wine, perhaps in this case with an even greater sense of age and concentration. The second, the uncertainty about its origins: the cooperative was founded in 1977, but the wine and casks that make up this little altar are older and it is not entirely clear how they got there. Nor do the most veteran of the winery agree on whether, when the wine arrived decades ago, it was considered an old Amontillado or an old Oloroso. In our opinion, it shows a clear profile of Amontillado from Trebujena, with a style shared, not by chance, with Sanlúcar.
