Lobenberg: Der Dog Point Pinot Noir entsteht aus sechs verschiedenen Pinot Noir Klonen, bei denen die ältesten Rebstöcke über 35 Jahre alt sind. Kraftvoll, konzentriert, reife Pflaumen, Schwarzkirsche, Maulbeere, Lakritz und Anis. Hier sind wir zwischen Markus Molitors Schieferwürze und Fritz Beckers Kalksteineleganz mit Kirschenfrucht. Viel Holunder und beeindruckende Kirscharomen geben dem Wein eine großartige Tiefe und Struktur. Die ausgewogenen Tanninen geben ihm die Seele und Glanz. Man könnte ihn blind auch nach Bannockburn legen, Felton Road ist qualitativ durchaus in fast greifbarer Nähe für Dog Point. Für Marlborough allemal ganz großes Pinot-Kino. 94-95/100

-- Parker: The 2019 Pinot Noir is lean and light on the palate, with a cavalcade of cherry, peppercorns, graphite and star anise roiling in the mix. This is elegant and spicy, with lingering flavor through the finish, which allows more opportunity to consider what it offers. This beautiful wine will age well into the next decade. The acidity today is quite pronounced, and while it emphasizes the boniness of the structure, it also promises longevity over time. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

-- Suckling: Ripe cherries, red plums, raspberries, baking spices and dried flowers on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied with fresh acidity and a velvety texture. Structured and chalky. Flavorful finish with excellent length. A couple of years of bottle age will make this even better, but it’s delicious already. Drink or hold. Screw cap. 93/100

-- Weingut: Hand picked and chilled overnight prior to handsorting. 70% destemmed and 30% whole bunches included. Fermented in small stainless open top fermenters with 100% indigenous yeasts over a period of 3 weeks prior to pressing into French oak barrels for eighteen months (30% new). Deep ruby Bright and pure stone fruits of doris plums and dark cherries with floral tones of violets and old fashioned rose petals. In the background, savoury elements, brambles and subtle char add complexity. Plush, juicy fruit flavours upfront lead into a fine boned tannin profile and gentle acidity.
