-- Suckling: A very cabernet-driven red with currants, light cedar, vanilla and flowers. It’s full-bodied, tight and powerful. Impressive finish. Classic. 74% cabernet sauvignon, 25% merlot and 1% petit verdot. 95-96/100

-- Weinwisser: Dichtes Purpur, satt in der Mitte. Verführerisches Bouquet mit Veilchen und reifen Brombeeren, dahinter Heidelbeergelee und Nougatpralinen. Am saftigen Gaumen mit cremiger Textur und genial stützender Rasse, dazu stützendes, kakaoartiges Tannin und reifer Extrakt. Im gebündelten Finale zerstossene schwarze Beeren, der Wein ist schlank wie ein Pfeil und wird immer länger, eine volle Ladung Cassis und herrliche Terroirwürze im Rückaroma runden ihn ab. Kein Wunder, dass diese Delikatesse aus Pauillac so eine grosse Fangemeinde hat. Preis-Leistung stimmt hier einfach! 18.5/20 95-96/100

-- Jane Anson: Inky in colour, this is wine that you want to share with Pauillac lovers. So much cassis, bilberry, espresso, cocoa bean, fennel and aniseed. Big tannins but approachable, with slate, crayon and smoked earth adding contrast and texture to the frame. This is really one to look out for. Tasted twice. 95/100

-- Decanter: Heady and seductive on the nose with touches of graphite, blackcurrant and cherry fruit. This is lovely, you get a sense of understated power, smooth and layered on the palate with wood spice, liquorice, menthol and gravel/wet stone notes and a core of ripe black fruit. Tannins are supportive - supple and softly gripping giving this a structured frame and drive the flavour from start to finish. Still very much taught and knitted together, just beginning to show what it's made of. One to buy and age. Great typicity. Tasted twice. Drinking window: 2027 - 2044. 95/100

-- Galloni: The 2019 Batailley has an intense bouquet of blackberry, graphite and light tobacco scents, the latter less pronounced than out of barrel. This feels supremely well-defined and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins and pure black fruit laced with cracked black pepper and graphite, leading to a complex and quite prolonged finish. One of the best Batailleys, maybe the best, in recent years, and a strong follow-up to their splendid 2018. Highly recommended and still one of the best values in Pauillac. 95/100

-- Wine Cellar Insider: Cassis, vanilla, cigar smoke, tobacco and forest leaf scents kick off the perfume. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, concentrated and tannic. The tannins are ripe, round and refined, allowing the wine to build and expand while it lingers. If it continues to develop along these lines, it will prove to be an even better wine, deserving a higher score. The wine was made from blending 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. 94-96/100
