Lobenberg: Schon in der Nase enorm tief, dabei aber beeindruckend elegant. Mit ultrafeiner, reifer Kirsche, blondem Tabak, feinen Gewürznoten und einer Spur Süßholz. Schicht um Schicht seines faszinierenden Aromenteppiches werden wieder und wieder frei, wobei sich der Wein in einem scheinbaren Schwebezustand befindet. Mit jeder Schicht werden neue Nuancen erkennbar: Anklänge an Teer und feinste Himbeere. Der Abgang hebt die mineralischen Elemente, das geschliffene Tannin und das feine Säurespiel hervor. Seine ganze Klasse zeigt sich in diesem Abgang, der einem mit seinen dezent nachhallenden Fruchtaromen das gesamte Potenzial vor Augen führt. Muss man bei einem perfekten Sangioves überhaupt noch vom Vorbild Burgund reden? Ich glaube nein. 98-100/100

-- Galloni: Luminous full red. The lively, perfumed nose combines red cherry, blueberry, minerals and flinty aromas. Rich and densely packed, showing captivating peppery lift to the very ripe red and blue fruit flavors. I distinctly remember just how deceptively accessible this was when I tasted it with Alessia Salvioni in her small cellar in downtown Montalcino back in February 2017; it has continued to develop nicely since then and really showcases the depth, solid structure and length to support a long, graceful evolution in bottle. Knockout Brunello from one of the quality leaders of Montalcino (and Italy, for that matter). 96/100

This opens to simply stunning aromas of cherries and sweet red fruits followed by spices, fresh florals, minerals and hints of mint leaf all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this refined Brunello dazzles with striking purity and focus. The overall balance and structure is outstanding as it continues to impress with excellent depth and precision through the beautiful finish. Salvioni’s wine are amongst the finest and most age-worthy wines from Montalcino. While the 2013 only offers a glimpse at its full potential at this early stage, it should go on to evolve beautifully for many years to come. This is a sensational Brunello, built for the ages. 96/100
