Lobenberg: 91% Tempranillo, 9% Garnacha - 18 Monate gereift in neuen Fässern aus französischer Eiche. Unglaublich feine Nase. Rote und schwarze Früchte, sehr würzig. Mineralisch und balsamisch. Am Gaumen feine Eleganz, sehr frisch und ausgeglichen. Tolle Röstnoten. Mit einem sehr druckvollen und langem Finale. 94-96/100

-- Parker: A wine I hadn't tasted for a while and usually a favorite of mine, the 2016 La Cueva del Contador is a Tempranillo selection from 40- to 60-year-old vines that fermented in small oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in French oak barrels for 18 months. It's the most elegant and perfumed within the modern, ripe, concentrated and powerful house style. It feels like a very concentrated Burgundy on steroids, combining elegance with power. 13,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2018. 95/100

-- Suckling: Intensity and direction to this, offering blackberries and chocolate with some hazelnut character. Bark and fresh mushrooms, too. It’s full-bodied, tight and polished. Slightly hard tannins, but will soften with a year or two of bottle age. Try after 2021. 94/100
