Der direkte Nachbar von Tour Saint Christophe, allerdings mit einer anderen Exposition und nicht nur mit Kalkböden, sondern auch mit Lehm und Sand. Immer recht ordentlich, in 2020 aber ziemlich extrahiert, der Wein braucht Zeit. Hier hat man unglaublich Gas gegeben. Der Wein ist noch ein bisschen bitter, auf Power getrimmt aber auf Grund des großartigen Terroirs hat er viel Zukunft. Bei der zweiten Verkostung Ende Mai dann deutlich weiter entwickelt, das wird sehr schön mit tollem Charme-Faktor, hat richtig Klasse.

The medium to full-bodied palate bursts with juicy black and blue fruits, supported by a lovely line of freshness and beautifully soft tannins, finishing with impressive restraint and a long-lingering mineral note. 93-95/100

I always love this wine, and the 2020 Château Barde-Haut is a quintessential Saint-Emilion revealing a deep ruby/purple hue, awesome notes of red plum, cherries, tobacco leaf, and chalky earth, full-bodied richness, bright acidity, and fine tannins. A gorgeous wine, it will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and keep for two decades. 96/100

The intensely saline finish alone is a thing of beauty. 95/100

Zwischen Saint Emilion und Saint Christophe des Bardes ganz in der Nähe von Chateau Troplong Mondot liegt das Chateau Barde-Haut. Die knapp 17 Hektar Rebflächen sind mit 75% Merlot und 25% Cabernet Sauvignon bestockt und die Rebstöcke im Schnitt über 30 Jahre alt.
