Napa Cabernet
-- Katalog: -- Parker: The irrepressible Philip Togni, whose experience goes back to such majestic wines as the 1969 Chappellet, is an ageless wonder who still vigorously hikes the steep slopes of his mountain vineyards high on the crest of Spring Mountain. He has a fabulous vintage in the works in 2006. It is his typical blend of around 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, about 15% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc with a touch of Petit Verdot. This is potentially his strongest vintage since 2004 and 2001. Classic blackish purple-colored to the rim, an extraordinary nose of incense, blackberry, cassis, cedar, and licorice, with just a whiff of tapenade soars from the glass. The wine has fabulous fruit purity, full-bodied richness, sweet but prominent tannins, and a glorious long finish of 45+ seconds. The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate remains one of the finest bargains for long-lived California Cabernet Sauvignon. A dense purple color is followed by stunning aromatics of creosote, black olives, blackberries, cedar, and cassis. Full-bodied with a multi-layered texture, decent acidity, and substantial, but ripe, noble tannins. 95+/100
