-- Parker: From very old vines on single poles in the Onnerts parcel right above the Prälat and neighboring the Herzlei, the 2018 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese Alte Reben (Long Gold Capsule) is darker-toned and more spicy or peppery on the nose than the 'regular' Gold Capsule and displays very clear, precise and noble apricot, tea and zesty lemon notes. It's almost floral but also spicy, a mysterious nose that will develop a lot over the coming years and decades. Lush and intense on the palate, this is another terribly sweet TBA, though not as rich or oily textured, thanks to its vitality and piquancy (470 grams of residual sugar are countered by 11 grams of total acidity). Picked at around 245° Oechsle, this is truly finessed, playful and even vibrant noble sweet wine, and readers will need to be patient if they prefer TBAs that are less nervous and piquant but more quiet and smooth. 97/100
