Riesling Erdener Treppchen Auslese Goldkapsel
-- Parker: From the top parcels of the cru, the 2023 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Auslese (Gold Capsule) is the 'negative' selection of the Trockenbeerenauslese and based on just 15% botrytized berries. The wine opens with a spectacularly clear, precise and flinty nose with crunchy slate, lemon and spice or even iodine aromas of crushed rocks. On the palate, this is a generously textured yet filigreed and detailed Auslese with a savory finish. The sweetness of 135 grams per liter of residual sugar is still not fully integrated but gives a certain sensuality and wraps around the total acidity of 10 grams per liter. The finish is savory and saline, and its vibrant freshness and mineral aftertaste indicate how this Auslese will taste in 20 or 30 years: rather dry but more complex than sweet. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 13 24 in January 2025.
