Lobenberg: Dicht, schwarz, drückend, aromatisch, aber etwas undefiniert. Auch im Mund durchaus Biss, aber nicht ganz klar, nicht auf dieser traumhaften Linie eines Pichon Lalande wandelnd, sondern irgendwo genau neben der Spur der Harmonie verbleibend. Der Wein hat durchaus Größe, ist aber nicht wirklich überzeugend für mich, bleibt etwas bäuerlich und etwas banal 91-93/100

-- Suckling: — Suckling: A fabulous young wine with superb depth of fruit and density that shows blueberries, blackberries, oyster shells and stones. Full-bodied, chewy yet with a laser-guided backbone of tannins. Goes on for minutes. Concentrated yet so fine and beautiful. The tannin content analysis is the same as 2009 and 2010 apparently from the winemakers, but the tannin quality is better. Amazing. This could be a remake of the 2010 but fresher. 95-96/100

-- Vinum: Einmal mehr ein majestätischer Baron mit Klasse-Tannin, von grosser Dichte und Rasse, mit langem, fruchtig-rauchigem Finale, grosser, im Ansatz klassischer Pauillac, dem besondere Frische zusätzliche Rasse und Komplexität verleiht. 18,5/20

-- Parker: The 2014 Pichon-Longueville Baron was broody at first, as if a big 'No Entry' sign had been placed in front of the aromatics. But peeking underneath are some wonderful blackberry, cedar and graphite aromas that just sing of Pauillac and exude typicity. The palate is medium-bodied with very impressive depth and concentration on the entry, a superb line of acidity and outstanding precision on the finish. This is clearly fulfilling its potential that it showed from barrel. The only drawback is that it might be unfairly overshadowed by the 2015 Pichon Baron! This will be one of those over-performing Pauillacs, perhaps like the 1990 Pichon Baron, that will delight for years to come. 94/100

-- Gabriel: 80 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 20 % Merlot. 35 hl/ha. Extrem dunkles Purpur mit lila und violetten Reflexen. Zeigt viel Würze und wunderschön florale Noten, hier gesellt sich schon eine ganz schöne Prise Tabak dazu und eine Aromatik aus dem Untergrund, welche schwarzbeerige Konturen und Trüffel mit sich bringt. Im zweiten Ansatz, dunkle Pflaumen, Kaffee und schwarze Oliven. Im Gaumen dicht, noble Hölzer, viel schwarzbeerige Frucht, ein Hauch Bittermandel, im Finale zeigt sich die Strenge der muskulösen Tannine welche nach Integration mit dem weiteren Fassausbau verlangen. Drei Mal verkostet. Immer etwas robust empfunden. 18/20

-- Gerstl: Tiefgründiger, reicher, komplexer Duft, strahlt Reife aus. Schön schlanker, eleganter, saftiger Gaumen, der Wein hat Klasse, aber um mit den ganz grossen Weinen des Jahrgangs mitzuhalten wirkt eine Spur zu kühl. 18/20

-- Galloni: Dark red cherry, plum, cedar, smoke and cinnamon are some of the notes that meld together in the 2014 Pichon-Longueville Baron. One of the rounder, more supple wines from this sector of the Médoc, today, the 2014 appears to be a wine that will drink well with only a handful of years in the cellar. The soft, seamless finish is quite striking, but there is plenty of tannin lurking beneath, it is just buried by the fruit. Technical Director Jean-Renè Matignon adds that the tannin levels are the same as 2010, although that would be nearly impossible to ascertain on taste and feel alone. In 2014, the blend is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. Overall, this is a very stylish Pichon-Baron distinguished by the great purity of its fruit. Tasted twice. -- Antonio Galloni 91-94/10

-- Wine Cellar Insider: -- Wine Celler Insider: Dark in color, with black, blue and cassis fruit complicated by smoke, earth and tobacco in the bouquet. This wine is rich, dense, long, silky and lush. There is a beautiful purity to the layers of ripe, sweet, fresh fruit and plush tannins. The finish builds and expands pleasantly in the mouth. This wine is probably better than the delightful 2003 and not far from the even more better 2005. Crafted from a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, the wine reached 13.3% alcohol with a pH of 3.7. The Grand Vin represents 45% of the harvest. 95-96/100
