Lobenberg: Ein Weingut unter der Regie von Nicolas Thienpont, verantwortet vom Ökologen-Team von Stéphane Derenoncourt. 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc. Der direkte Nachbar vom in diesem Jahr überragenden Bellefont Belciér, allerdings mit deutlich höherem Merlot-Anteil, was für 2014 nicht gerade Top-Voraussetzungen sind. Trotzdem schöne Reife in der Nase zeigend, dichte schwarze Frucht. Im Mund Frische, sehr viel Mineralität, aber hier dann entgegen des Nachbarn Bellefont Belciér doch viel Unreife in der Merlot. Nein, Unreife ist das falsche Wort - einfach fehlende fleischige und fruchtige Süße in der Mitte. Der Wein ist ein bisschen karg. Anständig, aber nicht groß. Bei tollem Preis vielleicht eine Kaufempfehlung, aber es gehört nicht zu meiner ersten Reihe in diesem Jahr. 92-93+/100

-- Suckling: The nose is really glorious with strawberry, wet-earth, blackberry and dark-mushroom character. Full body, a solid core of fruit and beautiful tannins. It’s polished and velvety. Better in 2022 but gorgeous. 96/100

-- Galloni: The 2014 Larcis Ducasse is soft, silky and nuanced. Dark cherry, plum, tobacco, mint and spice flesh out effortlessly in a midweight Larcis that will drink well with minimal cellaring. There is gorgeous depth and density in the glass, but the 2014 also appears to be a bit closed following its bottling in May 2016. With time in the glass, the wine's raciness and voluptuousness start to emerge. Even so, I would prefer to cellar the 2014 for at least a few years. 95/100

-- Parker: The Château Larcis-Ducasses is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc cropped at 37.5 hectoliter per hectare between 1 and 14 October. It has a strangely “distant” nose that is difficult to engage with at first, then a wave of super-ripe crème de cassis and blueberry fruit whose purity cannot be denied. The palate is full-bodied with soft ripe tannins, plush in the mouth with well-judged acidity, a touch of mineralité on the finish. Again, this is a modern style of Saint Emilion delivered with oodles of panache. This will be no more, no less than 'delicious'. 91-93/100

Chateau Larcis Ducasse liegt am Hang von Saint Emilion und befindet sich seit über hundert Jahren im Besitz der Familie Gratiot. Das Gebiet von zehn Hektar besteht im oberen Hangbereich aus Lehm und Ton, im unteren Bereich aus eisenhaltigem Sand.
