Alvaro Castro Branco Reserva
-- Parker: The 2012 Dao Branco Reserva (the black label, region-designated brand) is all Encruzado, fermented for six weeks in 3-year-old, 400-liter French oak barrels, is revisited this issue for a quick checkup. This very Burgundian Encruzado is lovely. As it aired and was cold, it showed a bit of flint, then resolved into something with more expressive fruit as it warmed up. In my original note, I commented that it grew on me with time, and it has continued to do so as it settles in and ages in the bottle. Graceful and impeccably balanced, this wine won-t ever seem big, fat or sweet, but it is easy to drink, surprisingly persistent as it warms in the glass and the type of bottle that will drain fast at the table. I-ll add that it was as good or better 3 days later. It is well entitled to a small uptick. It may last longer than I think, but I do like to be conservative. Drink now-2021. 90/100
