Lobenberg: Biologische (nicht zertifizierte) Weinbergsarbeit. Alles immer penibelst zu 100% entrappt und dazu noch optisch-digital nachsortiert. 100% gesunde reife Beeren. Mit Füßen eingemaischt – sehr ätherisch, minzig und viel hellfruchtiger als Domaine d’Eugenise eher kakaoiger Aux Brulees, den ich direkt beim Termin zuvor verkostet habe. Das ist eine transparentere Interpretation. Aux Brulees hat Südausrichtung und dank des Frosts wurde die Säure gut erhalten. Mathilde selbst sagt, dass diese Lage, wenn es viel zu warm ist, schnell langweilig werden kann. Das war 2016 keineswegs der Fall. Leider hat man auch rund 50% weniger Menge eingefahren ob der Spätfröste Ende April. Die Frucht erinnert mich sofort an Johannisbeere und Preiselbeergelee. Ein gnadenlos gutes Jahr für die Lage, einer der besten Aux Brulees bei Mathilde Grivot. So elegant und erhaben – und doch charmant. Die ideale Mischung. 95-96/100

-- Tim Atkin: This Premier Cru is exposed due south (hence its name - burnt) but it never seems to produce jammy wines, such is its position in the upper part of Vosne-Romanée. The Grivots’ parcelis spread across three terraces and often produces one of their nest bottlings. Balanced, polished and very elegant with a saline, chalky tang and haunting red fruit sweetness. 96/100

-- Parker: -- Galloni: (Grivot is aging this wine in 50% new oak but seasoned the barrels first with a Chardonnay vinification; all of the fruit from the lower section of this site was lost to frost but the terraces were unaffected): Bright red-ruby. Pure but reticent scents of dark raspberry, bitter chocolate and spices are accented by a touch of gunflint minerality. Sappy and fine-grained, offering terrific intensity and depth to its precise flavors of dark berries and spices. Grivot has long thought that his Aux Brûlées vines on a south-facing terrace are too sun-drenched in warmer years, but he noted that this is the first vintage he has really liked for its energy and sophistication, describing the wine as 'less Brigitte Bardot than normal.' He credits this to more intracellular fermentation with a higher percentage of whole berries. 92-95/100
