Touriga Nacional Cima Corgo
-- Parker: The 2017 Touriga Nacional (Cima Corgo) is sourced from vines at 550 meters and comes in at 14% alcohol. Unlike the debut vintage, this was aged for 18 months in mostly neutral French barrels (but 25% new). It comes in at 14% alcohol. Elegant in the mid-palate, this has good supporting structure and freshness, plus plenty of blue-fruit aromas. In some ways, it is a bit more classic than its sibling, the Letra A this issue. It handles its tannins and alcohol better than the Letra A and avoids any harshness. That said, there is plenty of power here and this, too, will need a few years in the cellar to show its best. It is very promising but wholly unevolved. There were 2,346 bottles produced from 15-year-old vines. For those wondering, the winery's Touriga Nacional (Douro Superior) no longer exists, as the winery lost the vineyard site. 92/100
