Lobenberg: Für mich der beste Sauvignon Blanc aus Napa. Ausgebaut in einer Mischung aus hauptsächlich gebrauchten französischen Barriques, Stahltank, Amphore, Keramik und Beton. Expressiv und dabei so wunderbar balanciert. Grapefruit, Zitrone, gelber Apfel mit erfrischendem Minz-Salbei Kick. Im Mund saftiger Pfirsich und ein Hauch Mango. Erfrischend mit salziger Graphit- Mineralität. A class of its own! Man kann ihn auch ohne Probleme, ebenso wie einen Sancerre von Format, ein paar Jahre in den Keller legen. Top Stoff! 94+/100

-- Jeb Dunnuck: Always beautiful, the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc is another great vintage for this white. Medium-bodied and racy, yet also ripe, it has a great perfume of grapefruit and white flowers, with a kiss of background minerality. It’s impeccably made, and while I like this in its youth, it ages nicely for upwards of a decade if you’re so inclined. 93/100

Spottswoode Estate ist ein 1882 gegründetes Weingut und auch ein gleichnamiger Weinberg in Eigenbesitz. Es zählt somit zu den wenigen Pre-Prohibitionsweingütern der USA, die es geschafft haben diese Zeit zu überstehen. Noch heute wird es von der Gründerfamilie geführt.
