Lobenberg: Ryan Deovlet ist ein biodynamischer Überzeugungstäter in Santa Barbara, Hochlagen, winzige Mengen. Alte Reben. Teilentrappte Ganztraubenmaische nach Kaltmazeration, Standzeiten auf den Rappen, spontane Vergärung in offenen, stehenden Barriques, nur 25% Neuholz. Abpressen mit der Korbpresse, überwiegend free run, Malo im Holz, Ausbau auf der vollen Hefe ohne Schwefel. Abzug nach 6 Monaten, dann weiterer Ausbau auf der Feinhefe, unfiltrierte, ungeschönte Abfüllung mit erstmaliger Zugabe von etwas Schwefel. Bergamotte, Waldboden, rote Beeren, Cranberry. Aber auch süße schwarze Kirschen Erde, Kieselstein, Trockenblume und helle Lakritze. Im Mund zusammen mit Blutorangen und etwas Sanddorn und pinker Grapefruit eine tolle Balance finden mit der durchaus süßen schwarzen Frucht. Superbe, seidige Tannine. Hier trifft Volnay auf Vosne Romanee. Sicher der eindeutigste Burgunder aus der Cote de Nuits. Großer Wein. 97-98+/100

-- Parker: Medium ruby, the 2018 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard opens slowly to alluring raspberry jam and pomegranate with accents of forest floor, bergamot, tar and potpourri. The palate is medium-bodied and harmonious, its grainy tannins and energetic acidity supporting a concentrated yet detailed core of perfumed fruit, and it boasts a very long, layered finish. Wow! It feels extraordinarily youthful and could use another 2-3+ years to unwind in bottle. 96+/100

Mulled cherries, blackberries, spice, herbs, and toasted notes all give way to a medium-bodied, fresh, focused Pinot Noir with integrated tannins, no hard edges, and one heck of a great finish. All of these 2018s from Deovlet comes across as slightly mid-weight, yet they shine for their complexity, elegance, and balance. 94/100
